Through our AMTC activities your dogs can earn titles, awards, and designations, these achievements become part of their registered name. AMTC Members also have the opportunity to participate in AMTC's AKC Fit Dog program, which offers Bronze, Silver, and Gold fitness titles. Each title comes with specific activity points based on its level. With six activity categories to choose from, participants can enjoy tailored family-fun events with their beloved canine companions. *All AMTC contests and sanctioned events or shows are produced and presented by AMTC*

AMTC EVENT CALENDAR

AMTC dog show Details

The AMTC Dog Show is currently a virtual prestigious event, where judges carefully examine each dog and award points based on how closely they adhere to their breed's official standard. This standard, maintained by the breed's national club, outlines the specific characteristics that define the breed's structure, temperament, and movement.
  1. Judges award first through 3rd places in each class, with the color ribbon indicating the type of award received.
  2. The competition intensifies as the first-place winners from each class compete again to determine the best of the winning dogs. Males and females are judged separately, and only the top male (Winners Dog) and female (Winners Bitch) receive champion points. These winners then vie for the coveted Best of Breed award. At the end of the competition, three awards are usually given: Best of Breed, Best of Winners, and the highest honor, Best in Show.
  3. If you're interested in showcasing your own dog at the AMTC Dog Show, you can find helpful training tips on this website. But remember, participation in AMTC Show venues requires all participants to adhere to the AMTC Code of Sportsmanship, which promotes fair play and ethical conduct in all aspects of the sport.

How to Participate in dog Show

Get started in AMTC Conformation Dog Shows by submitting an AMTC Event Registration Form through the provided link. This exclusive opportunity is only available during the event, so don't miss out! Just click on the provided link, which will be a solid color, and fill out the form.
  1. To participate, you'll need to submit a video of your dog stacked. Make sure your furry friend is three months or older on the day of the show and is a recognized breed by the AMTC. Additionally, your dog should be registered by the AMTC and free from any disqualifying faults according to the breed's standard.
  2. Your dog should be in sound health and up-to-date on vaccinations. It's important to note that your dog should not be spayed or neutered in order to obtain Conformation points. During the show, your dog should be exhibited by its owner, breeder, or a hired professional handler.
  3. Lastly, males and females will compete separately within their respective breeds. Most dogs compete for points towards their AMTC championships, so get ready to showcase your dog's excellence!

The American Morkshire Terrier Club is proud to announce its designation as an AKC FIT DOG CLUB, further promoting the health and wellness of both owners and their beloved dogs. As part of this initiative, we will be continuing the AMTC Fit Dog Walk every year in June, a fantastic opportunity for all dog owners to engage in a safe and enjoyable virtual exercise activity. This non-competitive walk allows participants to complete it all at once or in smaller segments on multiple days, ensuring everyone can participate at their own pace. As an added bonus, AMTC members have the opportunity to earn DOG FIT Titles. With three levels of titles to achieve, there's something for everyone.

As a way to promote and highlight the American Morkshire Terrier, the AMTC sponsors a range of events and shows. To participate in an AMTC sponsored event for titles or points, individuals will need to become AMTC members. This exclusive membership offers access to exciting opportunities and the chance to showcase the incredible qualities of the American Morkshire Terrier. Please note that dogs who are not registered must join the AMTC within 90 days prior to entry, ensuring that all participants meet the necessary requirements. To ensure a smooth process, please remember that day of show entries will not be accepted, so make sure to plan ahead and register in advance. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting event on the AMTC Event Calendar! Not only do we organize the popular Fit Dog Walk, but we also have an exciting lineup of events, but we have other venues in store for our members coming soon!

amtc dog fit walk details & PARTICIPATION

Get your dog in shape with the AMTC Dog Fit Walk! Between June 1st and August 31st, every year, you and your furry friend can walk for a total of 150 minutes per week for at least 3 months. Whether you prefer a brisk walk or a jog, there are different options to suit your fitness level.
  • For those who are fit, you can complete your 150 minutes all at once in a single week.
  • If you and your dog are in good shape, you can split the 150 minutes into 30-minute intervals, walking 5 times per week.
  • And for those who would benefit from shorter walks, you can walk for at least 15 minutes, 10 times per week.
Remember, treadmills do not count as an AMTC FIT DOG activity. But don't worry, once you and your dog have achieved one of these fitness goals, you'll receive a free magnet as a reward! And if you're an AMTC member, you'll also receive an AMTC medal along with the magnet. So lace up your shoes, grab your leash, and let's get walking!

  4. Once you have completed your walks, submit your walking record to us. We will take care of submitting it along with your Magnet Order Form.
  5. As a token of appreciation, we will send you a magnet to commemorate your participation. And that's not all - our valued members will also receive a medal for their dedication. It's that simple!

AMTC's ANNUAL VALENTINE & HALLOWEEN contests

Annual 💝 contest

Get ready to showcase your furry friend's cuteness in the AMTC Annual Valentine's Day Pet Photo Contest! This virtual contest is open to everyone, and all you need to do is fill out an application on AMTC's events page and submit a photo of your pet (no humans allowed) to AMTC's email or Facebook page between February 1st and February 11th at 12 noon EST. The photo with the most Likes on February 13th will be crowned the winner, and the announcement will be made on February 14th at 12 noon EST on our Facebook page.

Annual 🎃 Contest

Get ready for some Halloween fun with the American Morkshire Terrier Club's annual virtual Halloween Costume Pet Photo Contest! To enter, simply submit an application found on our Events page and then submit a photo of your dog in a Canine Halloween Costume. Remember, no humans allowed in the photo! You can send your entry to our email or post it on our Facebook page starting on October 14th. The contest closes on October 28th at 12 noon EST.

The winner will be determined by the photo with the most Likes on October 30th, and the announcement will be made on our Facebook page on October 31st at 12 noon EST. This contest is open to the public, so anyone can participate. We're looking for creativity, originality, and humor in the costumes, so let your imagination run wild! Please note that only one photo entry per household is allowed, and the prizes cannot be redeemed for cash or unrelated services.
